“Fully Cooked Chicken Breast Breaded Nugget Shaped Patties with Rib Meat” vs “Chicken”
Growing up in the United States, I’ve had my fare share of Fully Cooked Chicken Breast Breaded Nugget Shaped Patties with Rib Meat, further to be known as “nuggets”. The way they elegantly take the shape of whatever their creators can imagine, it almost illustrates a sense of freedom that is Ameri… Errr, what am I talking about?
What’s For Dinner?
Nuggets are great when you’re in a rush and looking for a meal guaranteed to be fully enjoyed by the pickier members of the family. You know. The kids repeatedly asking “What’s for dinnerrrr?” only to be followed by an equally drawn out “Ugggghhh” whenever something remotely healthy is mentioned.
Chicken is a much healthier option. Luckily chicken doesn’t have a very powerful taste when prepared plain, and it accepts most marinades and seasonings quite well, making it a good option for the kids not always willing to try something new.
Safety Of Preparation
Nuggets are also safer than standard chicken because you don’t need to worry about whether or not they’re fully cooked.
Chicken does run the risk of carrying salmonella and other bacteria. Luckily, any bacteria you would have to worry about will be killed when you bake, grill, or pan-fry your chicken. Just cut into the thickest part of the meat to see if it’s fully cooked. No pink should be showing at all.
Cooking Options
And the toppings for nuggets. Barbecue sauce. Ketchup. Honey mustard. Ranch dressing. Bleu cheese. Hot sauce. Whatever flavors your heart desires, chicken nuggets are a quick, easy to manage delivery system to your taste buds.
As with nuggets, you certainly are not limited in your options for spicing up your chicken. Feel free to experiment with whatever you’re in the mood for. If I may make a recommendation? Marinate a few chicken breast for a couple hours with a jar of salsa (I like HOT) and a good few splashes of Worcestershire sauce until the salsa loosens up a bit. Then bake. Yum.
